Biological samples from the mother

Biological samples from the mother

As the mother, we would ask you to collect a small stool sample, saliva sample and dental plaque sample on two occasions. In addition, with your agreement, the obstetrician will take a vaginal swab and a small stool sample from you during the birth.

We would also ask you to collect small samples of your breast milk and skin flakes three times in the baby’s first year.

Finally, during the pregnancy and for the first three years of your child’s life, you will receive a brief online questionnaire to complete on 11 occasions. Completing the questionnaires takes a maximum of 10 minutes, and usually even less.

Collecting the biological samples is easy. There are a couple of things to note before you begin. Watch the introduction video before you start collecting the biological samples.
Packaging the biological samples is easy too. Click here to find out how to package and store samples safely and hygienically.
