Microbiome and AIMS

The official name of this research is: Amsterdam Infant Microbiome Study or AIMS.
Microbiome is a collective term for the bacteria and virus particles in your body.

The Amsterdam Public Health Service is looking for 500 pregnant women in Amsterdam for a study on the health of babies and toddlers.

Do you think it’s important that babies in Amsterdam grow up healthy?

The more mothers participate, the better we can help children grow up healthy.

Who can participate?

All pregnant women in Amsterdam can participate until 32 weeks of pregnancy. You participate from pregnancy until your child is 3 years old. Participation is easy, from your own home.

What is the research about?

The Amsterdam Public Health Service is researching the microbiome (Bacteria and virus particles) that every baby carries from birth. We want to know how these bacteria influence the health of children in Amsterdam. Are there, for example, bacteria that increase a child’s chances of overweight later? The more mothers participate, the more we know about the health of children. This allows us to provide better advice and better care to parents and children.
